These dark, oily vanilla beans are sourced directly from a farmers co-op in Indonesia. Families across various villages are supported to establish viable crops, following organic farming best-practices. They each contribute their boutique crop to the co-op where the beans are fermented and prepared for sale.
Whilst these vanilla pods are organically grown, the administrative cost of becoming certified is not viable for these small-scale farmers.
The region produces a distinctive terroir, with flavour notes of dark chocolate,cinnamon, blackberry, black pepper, and liquorice.
